I started 3 Great Ideas for two reasons: I wanted to blog about education, and I do not believe that I have all the answers.

My own background is in high school English/Language Arts, and while I’ve certainly amassed a few tricks of the trade along the way, I find that most of the time I am asking my talented and smart colleagues for advice.

I’m also aware that though I love teaching English, and the world is full of English teachers, many of the educators I talk to on Twitter and at workshops are from all disciplines. Because I see myself as a member of a community of teachers and not just teachers of English, I really believed that this blog should service all educators.

So that’s what this will be. Each week (or so), I plan to source 3 Great Ideas from teachers of all disciplines and age groups. I will try to choose a unifying topic, and then feature 3 best practices, techniques, strategies, hacks, helpful hints, or whatever…as long as it improves teaching and is in the best interest of students.

I plan to contribute myself along the way, but at the end of the day, I want this blog to be a place for teachers, by teachers.
